Pompano Beach man accused of stabbing brother to death


A fight between two brothers Tuesday turned into a family tragedy when one brother stabbed ther other to death over the the use of a car, Pompano Beach police said.

The violent fight occurred around 4 p.m. when Dieseul Cemerant, 23, stormed into an apartment at 305 SE Nighth Ave. and attacked his brother Saint-Ange Cemerant, 21, who had taken his car without permission to visit a girlfriend. The older brother had been unable to get to work.

A struggle ensued between the two men and a gun may have been involved. Broward Sheriff’s Office said at some point Dieseul Cemerant grabbed a kitchen knife and fatally stabbed his younger brother.

Saint-Ange Cemerant was pronounced dead at the scene.

Cemerant left the apartment on foot and was arrested by BSO deputies blocks from the apartment.

Deputies said Dieseul Cemerant will likely face murder charges in his brother’s death.
