We boast to the world how good our system of government is, and here we set an example of how dysfunctional we are under the two-party system.
A third party could break the deadlock? Why shouldn’t Congress respect the normal rule that the majority vote decides the law?
What stops those who are dissatisfied from introducing changes or even repealing the law right now with a new vote or later when they can get the majority to agree with them?
Meanwhile, we are self-destructing on top of all the troubles we already have and exposing how democracy should not work.
