Man killed in I-95 motorcycle wreck in Broward

A Palm Beach man was killed early Sunday when his motorcycle veered off the road, hitting a traffic barrier on Interstate 95 south of Stirling Road in Broward, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.

Derrick Thomas, 35, a Lantana resident, was driving north when he lost control of his 2004 Kawasaki, before heading into some trees. The motorcycle burst into flames. Thomas was ejected from the motorcycle into a canal.

He was pronounced dead at the scene. According to FHP, Thomas was wearing a helmet.

FHP continues to investigate the cause of the crash.
