Pace 35, Dade Christian 21

QB Kelly Benson is a key in Pace win over Dade Christian

Special to the Miami Herald

Despite the two private schools being just three miles apart, Monsignor Pace (4-2) and Dade Christian (3-4) had never faced each other until Friday afternoon.

With new lights not in place, Pace traveled to Wooten Field for an afternoon game and came away with the win.

Quarterback Kelly Benson led the way for Pace, completing 9 of 14 for 157 yards and two touchdowns, including a 27-yarder to Leondre Hughes in the first half and a 50-yard toss to Sage Lewis late in the third quarter.

Defensively for Pace, Demarrio Smith grabbed a turnover and raced 65 yards for a score.
