Arcadia, CA (SportsNetwork.com) - Veteran jockey Garrett Gomez took off his mounts Thursday at Santa Anita and will not ride for the time being.
"He's going through personal problems," said his agent, Tony Matos. "He texted me yesterday and said he didn't want to ride for a while."
Gomez, champion jockey of 2007-08, took off his six rides at Santa Anita last Sunday when he missed a flight from Kentucky after riding two races at Keeneland on Saturday.
Earlier this year, Gomez missed time when he went through rehab for alcoholism.
