Congress’ dereliction of duty

It is outrageous that those directly responsible for the government shutdown continue to receive their full pay while other federal employees suffer the consequences of Congress’ inability to do the job they were elected to do. In addition to the employee furlough, government contractors and citizens, who use government services, are being harmed by this dereliction of duty.

The fact that Congress writes laws that specifically exempt themselves is in itself wrong. The system is broken almost beyond the point of repair and needs to be changed for the sake of our country.
