Don Slesnick, managing partner of Slesnick & Casey, LLP in Coral Gables, has been elected the 2013-2014 chairman of “The Fellows” of the American Bar Foundation.
The nationwide non-profit organization consists of 10,000-plus “Fellows” who financially support the legal research work of the foundation (the academic arm of the ABA). Membership is limited to one-third of 1percent of the lawyer population and is attained by a nomination process which seeks candidates including attorneys, judges and law professors who have demonstrated excellence in the legal profession and dedication to the welfare of their communities.
For the past three years Slesnick has served as a member of the ABA’s Commission on Civic Education in the Nation’s Schools; he currently sits in the ABA’s House of Delegates and on the governing Council of the ABA’s Section of Labor & Employment Law.
Slesnick, who served as Mayor of Coral Gables from 2001 to 2011, has been in private practice since 1976, representing public sector employee organizations.
