Man gunned down in Liberty City courtyard

Miami police on Tuesday are looking for the killer of a man in a Liberty City courtyard.

The man, identified as 28-year-old Willie Gordon, was shot several times just after 8:30 p.m. Monday inside the apartment building courtyard at 6820 NW 17th Ave. He was taken to Jackson Memorial Hospital’s Ryder Trauma Center where he died.

The courtyard was littered with bullet casings.

“It was kind of a brutal scene from what we can see,” Miami police spokesman Officer Rene Pimental said at the crime scene. "We’re asking the public right now to give us a hand in finding out who shot this man."

The victim’s mother told CBS 4 that her son was “a happy-go-lucky person. He loved to joke.”

This report will be updated as more information becomes available.
