Mental patient with arrest warrant captured after escaping from Pembroke Pines hospital

A patient who escaped from the South Florida Mental Hospital in Pembroke Pines has been captured.

Leandro Guymaraes, 30, left the hospital, 800 E. Cypress Dr., late Saturday night without approval, police said. He was taken into custody early Monday in Coconut Grove and is back in jail.

He had been ordered by court to the hospital because of schizophrenia and previous violent episodes. He also has a warrant for his arrest in Miami-Dade County.
