Monsignor Pace can’t overcome scoring barrage in loss to IMG Academy

Special to the Miami Herald

Undefeated IMG Academy out of Bradenton, which had been playing as an independent, showed off its goods before a Homecoming crowd at Monsignor Pace on Friday night cruising to an easy 35-7 win over the Spartans.

Pace (3-2) took an early 7-0 lead on a 5-yard Kelly Benson-to-Patrick Stanley touchdown pass but it was all IMG after that as the Ascenders (6-0) scored five unanswered touchdowns.

The biggest thorn for the Pace defense was IMG running back Bo Scarbrough as the Alabama commit enjoyed a big night, rushing for 221 yards on 17 carries and two touchdowns including a 70-yarder late in the third quarter.
