How dare letter writer Julio A. Velis judge anyone else’s disability. Only a few close to me know of the many surgeries I have undergone and of the long months over the years of therapy I have suffered through.
I take great care with my appearance so as to appear normal and not elicit the false sympathy of those who think that I should look handicapped. Every moment of my life is lived in pain, every step I take is painful. Would Mr. Velis have me grimace in pain for his satisfaction? He should pray that he doesn’t become one of us.
