Anti-Obamacare Republicans almost never say what aspects of the law they find offensive. When they do, it’s frequently the individual mandate, a conservative ideal that there should be no “free-riders.” So what are the naysayers against? Affordable private policies with subsidies for low-income individuals and families; expanded Medicaid for poor, often working, adults; no co-pay for preventive care or companies having to spend 80 percent of premiums on actual delivery of care?
The law isn’t perfect. No law is. It is a fix for a system that has failed to cover a large swath of the populace. I wish we could just get past the ignorance and work together to provide healthcare for the 30 million who will now be able to access the system.
