Letter writer Sam Fields’ comments on his visit to the Vietnam War Memorial brought back some painful memories and watery eyes. In the mid-80s I was in Washington on business and visited the Wall to find my young nephew’s name, Michael Dean Rogers. It took me a while, but when I spotted it I began to sob uncontrollably. I was taken by surprise at my reaction, but could not stop. I was still crying while working my way out to a street to hail a cab to the airport. I remember a teenager full of life, a big smile and happy disposition.
