Hollywood issues boil-water notice after main ruptures

A utility contractor ruptured a 24-inch water main in Hollywood Thursday, causing the streets to flood and the city to issue a citywide boil-water notice.

The rupture happened at South 28th Avenue and Van Buren Street Drivers are being asked to avoid the area from Hollywood Boulevard south to Washington Street between 29th and 27th avenues.

The break caused a drop in water pressure, forcing the city to issue a precautionary boil-water notice for all city water customers.

Residents are encouraged to boil water or use bottled water for all uses including drinking, making ice, preparing food, and washing dishes until further notice.

Once all water testing comes back clear the advisory will be lifted.

Crews are working to fix the break, and will likely need to cut off water for those who live closest to the break while it is being fixed.
