I cannot believe I live in a state where the governor, Legislature and other government officials are actively trying to suppress the implementation of the Affordable Care Act. As a small-business owner, I recently had to cancel our employee health insurance because of the high cost. I’m hoping that Obamacare will bring down premiums enough so that we can reinstate it. Whether that occurs remains to be seen.
However, for Gov. Scott and his rabid right-wing colleagues across the nation to try to deny health insurance to millions of Americans without waiting for the empirical evidence to judge whether the ACA works or not is negligent at best and criminal at worst. Citizens shouldn’t have to bear the brunt of hypocritical politicians’ squabbles and disagreements regarding the ACA, especially since we pay for their Cadillac healthcare plan with our taxes.
