Re the Sept. 17 editorial, The comback kids, about the efforts to bring back and help turtles: On Sept. 15, while diving a wreck off Miami, my dive buddies and I came upon a large loggerhead turtle hung up with fishing line wrapped around his left flipper. He appeared to have been dead for a few days, but one could see how much he must have suffered before drowning.
We cut him loose and let him float away and spent the rest of the dive cutting off all fishing string, etc. from the wreck to maybe stop another mishap.
