Richard Pinero, Allain Larroche lead Ferguson to win over Palmetto

TEAMS OF THE WEEK

The Belen boys and Ransom Everglades girls each won the Youth Fair swimming championships. Belen was led by Boleck De Pawlikowski, who won the 100-yard backstroke. Ransom Everglades won the girls’ division by winning all three relays. Laine Morgan won the 100 backstroke and 100 freestyle to lead the Raiders.

ATHLETES OF THE WEEK

Khalil Murat, Norland, football: Murat ran for 133 yards on 20 carries and a touchdown and threw a touchdown pass to help the Vikings beat Columbus 20-15.

Hilton Joseph, North Miami, football: Joseph ran for three touchdowns and finished with 262 all-purpose yards to lead the Pioneers to a 21-14 win against Miami Beach.

Michele Marenus, Lourdes, volleyball: Marenus had 26 kills and 14 digs to lead the Bobcats to a win against Palmetto.

Caroline Sklaver, Ransom, volleyball: Sklaver had nine kills, eight aces and 11 assists to lead the Raiders to a win against Chaminade.

Zuhayr Pigot, St. Brendan, boys’ swimming and diving: Pigot won the 50 and 100 freestyle at the Youth Fair Invitational.

Isabella Paez, Reagan, girls’ swimming and diving: Paez won the 100 butterfly and 200 IM at the Youth Fair Invitational.

Nick Diaz, Sunset, boys’ cross-country: Diaz won the Flrunners.com Invitational Race of Champions with a time of 15:15.

Peter Grootens, Pace, boys’ cross-country: Grootens won the Boys’ unseeded race at the Flrunners.com Invitational.

Katrina Santiago, Ferguson, girls’ cross-country: Santiago finished the Flrunners.com Invitational Race of Champions with a Dade-best 18:50 to finish 17th.

Guillermo Saade, Belen, boys’ golf: Saade shot a 37 to lead the Wolverines to a win against Archbishop McCarthy.

Alec Sanchez, Southwest, boys’ bowling: Sanchez bowled a high series 682 to lead the Eagles over Columbus.

Kristi Perlberg, TERRA, girls’ bowling: Perlberg bowled a high series 531 to lead the Wolves to a win against Sunset.

The Ferguson boys’ bowling team dominated the Palmetto Panthers in a 7-0 match on Monday afternoon.

Senior Richard Pinero led the Falcons with a high game of 223 and a high series of 553. Allain Larroche chipped in with a series of 536.

This match improved the Falcons to 6-1, and they will face off against South Miami at Bird Bowl on Tuesday.

GIRLS’ VOLLEYBALL

The Archbishop Curley girls’ volleyball team defeated Hialeah Educational on Monday afternoon.

The Knights took the first set of 25-17, and then Hialeah came back in full swing to take the next two sets 25-21, 25-23. Archbishop then closed the match by winning the final sets 25-23 and 15-8.

Alyssa Lambert led the Knights with 15 assists, three aces and two digs. Micquel Goins chipped in seven aces and eight kills and one assist, followed by Shelbie Charles with eight aces, four kills, three assists and two digs.

Archbishop Curley improved its record to 8-2, and it will face the Sagemont Lions on Thursday afternoon.
