Boat with drugs washes ashore in Fort Lauderdale


A boat carrying drugs washed ashore in Fort Lauderdale Monday morning, according to early reports.

The 20-footer was grounded south of Oakland Park Boulevard and the beach.

Fort Lauderdale police and the Coast Guard are on the scene where a barrel could be seen on the beach.

Fort Lauderdale police spokeswoman DeAnna Greenlaw told CBS4 that officers found bales of marijuana aboard and in the water near the boat.

A stretch of A1A has been shut down for the investigation.
