A major retrospective devoted to the work of Robert Indiana has opened at the Whitney Museum of American Art in Manhattan. Indiana’s signature large-scale LOVE sculptures can be found in public spaces around the world — in languages including English, Hebrew, Chinese, Italian and Spanish — from Sixth Avenue in Manhattan to Philadelphia’s LOVE Park to the Old School Square in Delray Beach. The Whitney exhibition will contextualize Indiana’s iconic sculpture by showing several different examples of the theme alongside many of his lesser known works.
