Alfred, Johnson lead Mourning over Goleman

Special to the Miami Herald

With running back Jordan Alfred scoring twice and running for 101 yards on nine carries, Mourning won its first district game in school history, beating Goleman at North Miami Stadium.

Against the winless Gators, Mourning (3-1, 1-0 District 16-7A) trailed 10-0 in the first half and 19-14 in the fourth quarter, but Jeremiah Johnson scored the game-winning touchdown with 5:35 to play on a 13-yard run.

Alfred’s first touchdown went 62 yards when the Sharks desperately needed a spark down 10-0, and after an onside kick before halftime, he scored again from 12 yards out on a play where he fumbled a pitch, recovered it, broke a tackle for loss and turned it up the field.
