Jake Medlock was present at practice Wednesday morning but did not participate because of a concussion he sustained last Saturday against Bethune-Cookman. While coach Ron Turner hasnt officially announced sophomore E.J. Hilliard as the starter against Louisville, Medlocks nonparticipation makes it likely that Hilliard will be starting this Saturday.
I havent heard anything official yet, Turner said Wednesday. Obviously, [Medlock] didnt go again [Wednesday]. I would say its probably not looking good. They have not ruled him out yet. So, well wait and see [Thursday].
Should Hilliard get the start, the team hopes to have freshman Travis Wright, a graduate of Louisville Trinity, available as his backup. Wright missed practice Tuesday because of an off-the-field issue but returned Wednesday. Turner said that Wright is cleared to play Saturday for the time being.
Tight end Akil Dan-Fodio, a former quarterback, could be an emergency backup.
