Gators’ Dominique Easley strives for perfection

Miami Herald Writer

Defensive tackle Dominique Easley is quite hard on himself.

“I strive for perfection. If there’s not perfection, there’s no greatness,” he said.

Florida’s menacing senior has spearheaded the nation’s No. 3 defense, but he believes his performance this season has just been OK. Defensive coordinator D.J. Durkin vehemently disagrees.

“I think he’s played better than all right,” Durkin said. “I’m glad he’s hard on himself that way. He’s a very self-motivated guy. That guy has an unbelievable motor, and he’s definitely been better than all right.”

Easley is second on Florida’s defense in tackles for loss (2 1/2) and quarterback hurries (3).

Roster change

After intercepting two passes in his first two career games, freshman cornerback Vernon Hargreaves III is now listed as a starter.
