Calvary Christian girls’ volleyball dominates University School

Calvary Christian defeated University School in straight sets 25-18, 25-17, 25-9 on Tuesday. The Eagles seemed to improve their play as the match continued, losing less in every set until they dominated 25-9 in the final set.

Jessie Underwood highlighted the stellar play of the Eagles. She registered a team-high 27 assists to go along with five digs and two kills.

Marielle Diaz added eight digs, eight aces and a team-high 17 points.

The Suns were led by Katelyn Barclay, who accumulated a team-high 40 digs to go along with three kills. Kaela Fennell-Chin added a team-high 23 digs in addition to her five kills. The loss drops University School to 1-3.

With the win, the Eagles improved to 9-0. Their perfect record will be put on the line again when they face off against Chaminade-Madonna next Tuesday at 6 p.m.

Chaminade-Madonna will have its hands full with Calvary, as the Eagles come into the game ranked as the 17th best team in Florida.

ELSEWHERE

St. Thomas Aquinas improved its record to 6-1 as the Raiders defeated rival Hollywood Hills 25-11, 25-3, 25-6.

The Raiders’ performance was dominant, especially in the second and last sets.

The Raiders will have a short turnaround as they play Wednesday against St. Andrews at 5 p.m.

Hollywood Hills will look to bounce back Friday when it takes on South Plantation at 6 p.m.

GIRLS’ GOLF

The St. Tomas Aquinas girls’ golf team was handed its first loss of the season at the hands of Cypress Bay. The Lightning shot a team score of 162, and the Raiders could only register a team score of 167.

The loss drops St. Thomas Aquinas to 5-1.

Valentina Haupt led the Lightning with a team-low 38.

Mikaela Thibedou and Josephina Haupt followed suit, both shooting a 41. Makarena Haupt rounded out the top scorers for Cypress Bay with a 42.

Despite shooting a match-low 37, Madisson Riordan could not propel her Raiders to a victory and extend their previously unblemished record.

Arianna Garcia shot a 41 and Julia Napsat shot a 42 to round out the top finishers for the Raiders.

With the win Cypress Bay improves to 5-2.
