Re the Sept. 11 report on Miami Beach commission meeting, Long Miami Beach meeting prompts testy commission exchanges: I’m appalled that elected officials would behave in this fashion and at how unprofessionally the tennis-center management issue was handled.
Our public tennis facilities are in dire need of new management. For the mayor and commissioners to go against the recommendation of the city manager and tennis committee shows how easily manipulated they are when confronted with theatrical lobbying.
Our tennis facilities should be as reputable as our public golf course. Unfortunately, that isn’t the case. The current management company, which was ranked last in the competitive process, has failed to establish Flamingo Park as a leading tennis facility.
