Two Miami taxi drivers were robbed Sunday night in separate incidences just a few blocks from each other.
Driver Mark Simon’s taxi broke down around 8 p.m. at Northwest 79th Street and Sixth Avenue. As he waited for a tow truck, two armed men approached him demanding money.
“I just gave my wallet,” Simon told CBS4. The robbers tried taking his car, but took off with $60 when they realized the taxi was broken down.
In the other incident, the armed robbers took driver Mohammed Younus’ car at Second Avenue and 72nd Terrace.
“I am lucky to be alive,” Younus told CBS4. “He put a gun on my shoulder and said give us money and get out of the car. So I give them money and got out of the car. They took the car.”
They hit a pole as they sped away, the driver said.
Younus said he ran into a store to call police.
Both men were still at large Monday evening, and police were looking for a yellow 2005 Mercury Marquis vehicle #4030, Florida tag BLCV49, with possible front-end damage.
Anyone with information is urged to contact the Miami Police Department at 305-603-6370.
