Man drowns at Fort Lauderdale-By-The-Sea party

 

Broward Sheriff’s Office homicide detectives are investigating the death of a Davie man who drowned after jumping in a pool during a party.

Anish John, 28, who witnesses said could not swim, was at a party on the 200 block of Codrington Drive in Lauderdale-By-The-Sea when he dove into the pool around 9 p.m. Saturday night.

John was under water for several minutes before other party-goers noticed and pulled him out.

Several people with medical training at the party immediately began cardiopulmonary resuscitation.

Lauderdale-By-The-Sea Fire Rescue rushed John to Holy Cross Hospital, where he was pronounced dead after 1 a.m.

It is unclear why John jumped into the pool if eh could not swim.
