My dad will be 89 in a few days. He’s a World War II veteran; in fact, he was in the first platoon to cross into Germany.
My sister and I have been supporting him except for his Social Security.
We applied for VA benefits seven months ago.
I was told by a VA representative that there’s a backlog of WWII vets trying to get their benefits and it can take longer than a year. I know my dad didn’t wait a year to show up for active service.
This is shameful; this is the government saying we hope you die before we will actually keep our commitments to vets.
