Parents arrested after son falls from Hialeah motel window

The parents of a 2-year-old boy were arrested after their child fell from their hotel room’s second-story window, according to the Hialeah Police Department.

The child remained in critical condition Saturday at Jackson Memorial Hospital.

Luis Enrique Rodriguez, 26, and Jacqueline Sanchez, 27, were charged with suspected child abuse just before midnight Friday, Hialeah police spokesman Carl Zogby said.

Police said officers also found evidence of cocaine use in the room.

The events took place at El Paraiso Motel at 1615 W. Okeechobee Rd.

The parents had been staying there for the past two days with the 2-year-old and a 5-month-old son, Zogby said.

The Florida Department of Children & Families took custody of the 5-month-old.
