Police are investigating a traffic fatality that occurred just after 11 a.m. at Miami International Airport.

A vehicle traveling east on the inner-circle of the departure area near Concourse H struck the pedestrian, identified as a 51-year-old male, while he was walking across the pedestrian crossway. The female driver, who was not identified, remained with her vehicle on the scene, according to Miami-Dade Det. Alvaro Zabaleta.

Attempts to rescue the pedestrian were unsuccessful and he was pronounced dead on the scene.

Traffic was largely unaffected by the accident, with only minor delays reported. Day-to-day operations at the airport were not affected, Zabaleta said.
