Sen. Marco Rubio indicated he would vote against a military response, albeit limited, against the Assad regime, and that instead our response should have been a “multifaceted plan to help the Syrian people get rid of Assad.”
I would like to remind him that it is the same policy that he and other legislators of Cuban descent have applied to Cuba. More than 50 years later, Fidel Castro and his thugs are still in power.
Had President Kennedy supported militarily the Cuban exiles, Castro would have been gone and Cuba a free country. This is a failed policy, and we have a moral obligation to tell Bashar Assad militarily that he cannot continue to use banned chemical weapons against his people, especially the children who were gassed.
