Television food personality Ingrid Hoffmann helps Miami Dade College kick off Hispanic Heritage Month festivities with a free appearance from noon to 1:30 p.m. Sept. 18 at its Kendall Campus, 11011 SW 104th St., Kendall.

Stop by Room R402, where the Colombian-born Hoffmann will talk about her rise in the food-media world and sign copies of her Latin D’Lite. Students from MDC’s Miami Culinary Institute will prepare recipes for the book for sampling; 305-237-7029.
