Will Norwegian Cruise Line’s pair of new ships be called the Dreamaway and Sailaway? Or Bliss and Muse? Or maybe Passion and Treasure?
The Miami-based cruise operator is asking fans to weigh in on Facebook, voting for their top two picks out of a list of 10 options that touch on nautical, travel and adventure vocabulary: Bliss, Discovery, Dreamaway, Escape, Journey, Muse, Passion, Sailaway, Treasure and Triton. (The word “Norwegian” will come first, as with all the line’s ships.)
Fans in the U.S., Canada (except Quebec), Spain, Germany and the United Kingdom are invited to vote on the cruise line’s Facebook page. They will also be entered in a contest to win a cruise on the first ship’s inaugural sailing.
For now, the two 4,200-passenger vessels are referred to as the “Breakaway Plus” ships. They are set to debut in fall of 2015 and spring of 2017. The cruise line launched the 4,028-passenger Norwegian Breakaway earlier this year; sister ship Norwegian Getaway will start sailing from Miami in February.
The cruise line also announced this week that the interactive touchscreen signs that first appeared on Breakaway will be rolled out fleetwide by summer of 2015. The self-service kiosks allow passengers to make reservations for restaurants, shore excursions and shows as well as order special items and get directions at locations around the ship.
