Miami-based OnTrade acquired by San Francisco company
OnTrade, a Miami-based technology company servicing the travel and trade show industry, has been acquired by Conference Hound of San Francisco, the companies announced Tuesday. Terms of the all-stock deal were not disclosed.
OnTrade, founded in 2009 and now a team of eight, is a B2B lead and deal generation platform for the travel industry. Buyers such as tour operators post deal requests and hotels and attractions post offers, and OnTrade matches them for the best deal. Conference Hound is a conference discovery platform that helps attendees find conferences, trade shows, festivals and connections filtered by a variety of criteria.
“It is a great fit and will allow the combined company to grow much faster,” said James Harrison, CEO of OnTrade, who will be an advisor and a member of Conference Hound’s board.
The company will continue to be based in San Francisco and led by current Conference Hound CEO Bruce Carlisle. OnTrade’s principal investor, Marco Giberti, a trade show industry veteran who has built and sold several companies in the space, will join the Conference Hound board as executive chair and will assume an active role in business development activities.
Harrison said he is already at work on his next Miami-based start-up company.
