Re Mayor Carlos Gimenez’s veto of sanitation workers’ restored pay: Miami-Dade County’s budget woes need to be equally fair to everyone, not just to some. The sanitation workers’ claim that they have been hit the hardest isn’t true. Other skilled trade labor employees make less.
Every Miami-Dade County employee is in the same boat of not being able to afford what is going on in their lives. How can you give to some and not others? In fact, those employees that don’t work for revenue producing departments should not be penalized in any capacity. Making an eloquent case doesn’t mean it’s equitable.
