In a battle of two evenly matched teams, the Coral Springs Charter girls’ volleyball team defeated Sagemont 25-19, 25-17, 15-9.

Priscilla Haase led the way for the Panthers with a game-high 17 assists and seven aces.

Sisters Hanna and Sarah Seldomridge registered seven kills apiece, and Alexa Downie added 10 assists.

Morgan Haynes also made her presence felt for the Panthers, registering 12 digs, while Taylor Ohallaran had eight digs of her own.

Susanna Rowen added two blocks.

•  Coral Springs Charter d. Sagemont: Nikki Rodriguez starred for Sagemont with five assists and four kills, but her efforts were not enough as the team fell to 2-2.

After losing two consecutive games, the win gave the Panthers a record of 2-2. They will next suit up against Olympic Heights on Oct. 11 at 5:30 p.m.

Sagemont has Miami Country Day in its sights as it faces off against the Spartans on Tuesday at 6:30 p.m.

•  Pace d. Hollywood Christian: In another matchup of heavyweight opponents, Pace took down the Challengers of Hollywood Christian in straight sets 25-19, 25-17, 25-9.

The Spartans, led by senior Bianca Toyos, were too much to handle for the Challengers.

Toyos finished with a team-high 13 assists and added three aces and two digs.

Fellow senior Yvonne Jebian contributed 12 digs and two kills while sophomore Sharell Nairn registered six kills and three blocks.

The Challengers dropped to 1-2 with the loss.

They will next face Edison Private on Tuesday at 5:30 p.m.

Pace will also play again on Tuesday when they match up against LaSalle at 5:30 p.m.

•  Highlands Christian d. Sheridan Hills Christian: Kaitlyn Smith led Highlands Christian past Sheridan Hills Christian with her stellar 40-dig, nine-point performance.

Her outstanding match could not have come at a better time as the Knights were fighting to stay away from their fourth consecutive loss to open the season.

Sasha Orrego also played a strong game, contributing 19 digs, eight kills and two points.

Highlands Christian will next face Trinity Christian Academy on Tuesday at 7:30 p.m.
