Kate Upton has had a great 2013 so far and now has officially been crowned the Model of the Year. The Sports Illustrated model will accept the honor Wednesday at the 10th Annual Style Awards broadcast on CNN 7 p.m. Wednesday.

Besides her gigs with Sports Illustrated, the Michigan native, 21, has other jobs. This year alone, she became the face of David Yurman, covered Vogue, and costarred with Cameron Diaz film The Other Woman. Upton is not single, though. Rumored bfs are dancing hothead Maksim Chmerkovskiy and/or Detroit Tigers pitche r Justin Verlander, take your pick.

Fashion passion

Models on Rebecca Minkoff’s New York Fashion Week runway will be strutting to the live music of Janelle Monae.

Monae will sing at Friday’s show at Lincoln Center as part of “American Express Unstaged,” a program that pairs artists of different mediums and makes their collaborations available to the public through digital media, including a live stream of the catwalk.

Minkoff and Monae will share behind-the-scenes preparations on Instagram, and viewers at home can get an insider perspective with a backstage camera and live photo feed. The live stream will be 3 p.m. Friday.

No excuses

Miley Cyrus says in a newly posted clip on MTV.com that she doesn’t listen to the negative comments regarding her performance on the MTV Video Music Awards. The pop star says she felt she and Robin Thicke were making history with the risqué performance of their hits We Can’t Stop and Blurred Lines. In the clip, Cyrus compares the performance to that of Madonna and Britney Spears, who kissed on air long ago. Cyrus says she is surprised people were still talking about it three days later: “You’re thinking about it more than I thought about it when I did it. I didn’t even think about it because that’s just me.”

The good life

Katie Couric really did find her Prince Charming — he’s loaded. Couric’s spokesman Matthew Hiltzik confirmed the engagement to Couric’s financier boyfriend John Molner. Molner, 50, gave 56-year-old Couric a diamond ring over the weekend in East Hampton. Molner is a partner at investment firm Brown Brothers Harriman, who oversees mergers and acquisitions advisory work for the firm’s corporate clients. It’s a busy time. In between wedding planning, her talk show, Katie, starts its second season Sept. 9.

Spotted

Fifth time seems to be the charm for Lorenzo Lamas. The actor, 55, was seen happy and relaxed in Miami Beach with his latest wife, hashtag happy model-actress Shawna Craig, 26. She posted pics galore on Twitter and Instagram with with various hashtags including #rechargingthebatteries #funinthesun #fontainbleu# [sic] #curves #confidence. Lamas showed his devotion to his young bride with roses, too. Caption with said bouquet: “My #hubby and I are madly #inlove and it’s so sweet when he does these little things 2show it.” On Monday , the couple attended the Labor Day Pool Party Fiesta thrown by Hyde Beach at the SLS Hotel.

Lamas was previously betrothed to Victoria Hilbert, Michele Smith, Daphne Ashbrook, and Shauna Sand and has six children, ranging in age from 30 to 12. We admire his stamina.
