The Broward County Sheriff’s Office is searching for a driver involved in the hit-and-run death of a pedestrian early Sunday.
Killed was Jorge Escalante, 29, of Pompano Beach, who was struck around 3 a.m. in the 800 block of W. Sample Road in Deerfield Beach by a vehicle that failed to stop an d remains at large.
Escalante’s family members said he was planning a wedding with his girlfriend of two years, Lisa Rivera.
“He was a great guy, he was like a father to her kids they were getting married in two months on the beach,” Cynthia Ortiz, his mother-in-law to-be, told CBS4.
Evidence from the scene helped investigators determine the make and model of the westbound vehicle.
The car is described as a beige 1992 or 1993 Toyota Camry with front driver-side damage.
