Decomposed corpse found in the Keys

The badly decomposed body of a man was discovered in the Florida Keys, according to the Monroe County Sheriff's Office.

The corpse of the white male, who may have died several weeks ago, was found in a wooded area off Sombrero Road in Marathon Friday morning, CBS4 reported.

Deputies told CBS4 that a Marathon Public Works employee found the corpse by following its stench.

A medical examiner will confirm the man's identity. Detectives said they have a tentative identification but are not releasing it to the public.

The circumstances of the man's death remain under investigation.
