Deerfield Beach scores early, routs Northeast

Miami Herald Staff Reports

Brandon Powell accounted for 144 yards and three touchdowns as host Deerfield Beach scored early and often.

Powell and Aeron McNeal each scored twice in the first half as the Bucks (1-0) scored on their first three possessions to seize a 21-0 lead.

Deerfield Beach coach Allen Jackson said getting out to the early lead gave his team confidence.

“That was huge because it got them believing in themselves,” Jackson said. “That was really important. We wanted to get a jump on them tonight.”
