Palmetto’s third quarter run sparks comeback win against Ferguson

Special to the Miami Herald

•  Palmetto 28, Ferguson 20: Trailing 20-7 with 10 minutes left in the third quarter, Palmetto (1-0) needed hope.

The Panthers found just that in the form of a 45-yard touchdown run by Rawshawn Hope — the first of three scores in a 21-point third quarter.

Ferguson’s offense was held at bay the rest of the game, and Palmetto won at Tropical Park.

Palmetto quarterback Matt Coll threw for 213 yards and a score, and Dwayne Pruitt took an interception return for a 45-yard score.

Ferguson (0-1) running back Sean Carranza ran for 140 yards and an 85-yard touchdown.
