A dominating defense and a lot of Henry Bussey proved to be the winning formula as the T-Breds rolled at Milander Stadium.
Bussey, the team’s starting running back, finished with 88 yards on 14 carries and scored all four Hialeah touchdowns.
Led by defensive end Jermain Sheriff, the T-Breds defense shut down Springs, allowing 81 total yards, 29 rushing and 52 passing. Sheriff was all over the place, recording more than a dozen tackles and sacked quarterback Gerald Anderson three times. Bussey had a pair of 1-yard touchdown runs in the first half to give his team a 14-0 halftime lead and then turned in a highlight-reel 38-yard score midway through the third, zigzagging around and through the Springs defense and breaking five tackles along the way to make it 21-0. Bussey’s last score came from 11 yards out with 3:23 left in the game to make it 30-0.
