Cypress Bay girls’ finish second in golf tournament

Mikayla Thibadeou of the Cypress Bay girls’ golf team won a playoff tiebreaker against Ransom Everglades’ Katie Hanley to take home the individual crown at the Archbishop McCarthy Lady Maverick Golf Invitational.

Thibadeou and Hanley each shot a 75 through 18 holes. The Ransom golf team had the last laugh, however, edging Cypress Bay in the team scores 311-319.

Carrollton’s Tanya Ethakotti just missed getting on the playoff by one stroke, shooting a 76. Just behind her were Ransom’s Chloe Horton and Carolina Garrett, who shot a 77 and 78, respectively.

Host Archbishop McCarthy placed third with a team score of 329. The Mavericks were led by Gigi Garcia, who tied two others with a 79.
