Hollywood man shot after neighborhood street fight

Hollywood police are investigating a street fight Thursday afternoon that sent one man to the hospital with a bullet wound to the leg.

Police responded to a call about a fight in the 5900 block of Buchanan Street in Hollywood. As they were in en route, another call came in about shots being fired in the area.

When officers arrived, residents scattered from the scene, but the shooting victim, an unidentified man in his 50s, was already on his way to Memorial Regional Hospital with a gunshot wound.

The man was still in surgery late Thursday.

The victim described the shooter as a man in his 30s. Police spokesman Sgt. Pablo Vanegas said the fight and the shooting seem related, but police are not sure about what started the scuffle.
