They want your blood: Donation campaign set for Labor Day Weekend

In between the picnics, parties and pigskin this Labor Day weekend, a blood-donation center wants you to take moment to save a life.

The payoff: two free movie tickets.

The OneBlood centers will be open Friday through Monday, either by walk-in or appointment. Locations can be found at

In addition to the movie tickets, thank-you gifts include a wellness checkup.

“Every Labor Day, we always try to do something new to augment the blood donations throughout Florida,” said Pat Michaels, a spokesman of OneBlood, the nonprofit blood center group. “Since it is the first time we are doing this event, we are hoping for a good turnout to be able to make an impact.”

Generally, healthy people 16 or older who weigh at least 110 pounds can donate blood.
