Stretch of I-95 near downtown Miami to close for removal of overhead sign

All northbound lanes on Interstate 95 will be closed between Northwest Second and Seventh streets from late Sunday to early Monday so workers can remove a large road sign structure, according to the Florida Department of Transportation.

The closings will take place between midnight and 5 a.m., FDOT said. The measure will begin with one lane closing at 10 p.m. Sunday, followed by two lanes closing at 11 p.m.

The on-ramp from North Miami Avenue to I-95 will also be closed.

Detours will be marked.

The closing, which will allow the contractor to remove the overhead sign structure at this location, could be postponed because of weather. An alternate date is Monday.
