A fugitive wanted for murder in Puerto Rico has been arrested by police in North Bay Village.

Police said Jesus Rodriguez, 27, was living in an apartment in the 7500 block of West Drive in the causeway town between Miami and Miami Beach.

Officers stropped a car Thursday in which Rodriguez was a passenger. After he was asked to get out of the car, Rodriguez shoved an officer and ran onto North Bay Island, said Police Chief Robert Daniels.

A search included police from neighboring El Portal, Indian Creek Village as well as Miami-Dade police aviation and K-9 units.

Rodriguez was found hiding in a cabana bathroom in the back of a house on Miami View Drive. He was apprehended by a K-9 team, according to police.

After being treated for minor injuries, he was taken to Miami-Dade County Jail and in custody of the U.S. Marshall’s Service.
