Holy Cow! Actor Ben Affleck to play Batman in new movie

Actor Ben Affleck has been tapped to star as Batman, Warner Bros. Pictures announced Thursday.

Affleck and director Zack Snyder will create an entirely new incarnation of the character — bringing Batman and Superman together for the first time on the big screen. Snyder’s latest film is Man of Steel, which has earned $650 million.

The studio said the film will open worldwide on July 2015.

Last month’s announcement of the new movie featuring the most famous super heroes created a buzz as to who would play Batman. Actor Christian Bayle was the last to play the role in The Dark Knight Rises.

Affleck will star opposite Henry Cavill, who will reprise the role of Superman/Clark Kent in Man of Steel.

Affleck recently starred in the Academy Award-winning Best Picture Argo, which he also directed and produced. He was not nominated, which was viewed as a snub by the academy.
