Miami-Dade Mayor Carlos Gimenez went to Washington D.C., to celebrate the 1972 Dolphins’ success. Apparently, this came up suddenly and was a priority item, because he postponed town hall meetings scheduled to give residents the opportunity to discuss the proposed budget with him.
Now, 1972 was a fine year for the team, but that was 41 years ago. There are vital issues facing the community. The mayor must explain his proposed budget to constituents. We have waited patiently for these meetings to share our thoughts.
Our community deserves better. We deserve a leader who is open to public ideas on how best to spend taxes.
