dneal@miamiherald.com

The Golden Panthers sustained a few injuries in Saturday’s scrimmage-like practice.

Redshirt sophomore wide receiver T.J. Lowder and redshirt junior defensive back Justin Halley sat out Monday’s practice with shoulder injuries.

Junior running back Anthon Samuel sat out with concussion symptoms.

Talking Lowder’s reps was redshirt sophomore Clinton Taylor. Senior Mitch Wozniack, 6-3, 200 pounds, replaced Halley.

Roster moves

Freshman guard Jordan Budwig moved up to the first team for a few reps Monday at left guard, joining freshman tight end Jonnu Smith, who FIU coach Ron Turner said had a chance to be “special.”

Another freshman lineman, James Cruise, has been working at right guard with the second team.
