It is interesting to note that Alex Bello, the president of the Fraternal Order of Police, thinks that being under the influence of drugs caused the death of Israel Hernandez-Llach. Whether he was on drugs isn’t the issue. This youth seemed to function quite well until he was Tasered.
A study done in 2008 by Pierre Savard at Ecole Polytechnique de Montreal said one pulse from a Taser might produce enough energy to induce deadly ventricular fibrillation, which leads to cardiac arrest.
There are several other cases of deaths after suspects were Tasered in this country. You would think that the manufacturer would think about lowering the voltage enough to stun a suspect but not have it lead to a cardiac arrest.
